sad, sad day (stripped hub content)
after almost two weeks i finally received my new cog and lockring from bellsbikeshop. took off the old ones and put on the new ones and what happens when i tighten the lockring? stripped hub... i knew i should have immediately replaced the wheelset of my kilo tt...
the saddest part is i'm leaving for the beach tomorrow and we always take our bikes... :( |
:(

Why is it that whenever i click on this forum i always end up at some dude's blog?
was this meant to be a discussion?
Cool story bro.

thank you stevey, **** the rest. i just wanted to share my depression with the board. and i don't have a fixed/fixed hub.
do you have a fixed/free hub?
yes, our solution is to ask around the local shops for a freewheel and then put a brake on my bike. i was looking forward to riding a fixed wheel for the trip but a bike is better than no bike.
Well, think about it this way, when you buy your next rear wheel you will already have a freewheel and a fixed cog so that way when you want to ride SS you'll be able to whenever you want. Annnndddd, you'll have a brake so you will be safer when you go back to riding fixed.

and now i can't find a freewheel that will fit my hub... this sucks
brake + no lockring + rotofix = you still riding... just don't bust out the sweet skidz
don't buy cheap ****!
take your other bike

it was definitely the hubs fault.
The lockring stripped because you are too powerful for mere metal. Suicide hub the other side, only loctite can withstand your adonis like physique
When i thought I stripped the fixed side of my hub I found out the other side was luckily fixed as well. I ordered that quality Dura Ace cog and lockring, put them on the other side, and I'm still riding. Jackpot for me. Moral of the story is buy quality the first time and take the time to install it properly or have a shop do it if you're not confident, then you wont have to e-whine about it
Did you tighten the cog and lockring when you first got your bike?

that hub certainly is cool, but jesus how do you delete a thread? i've had 2 wheel sets since the hub discussed in this thread. everything is ok now.
