nice. everyone ripping on messengers now. i guess after you stole their style you became better than them. i know the chicago riders in the photos. they're probably cooler than most of you.

and messenger not being a real job? it's one of the hardest jobs in the city. "real" jobs feel like vacations to me now.

I am guessing you've never been a courier since you're from Texas. Crappy job with [often] little pay and no benefits, yes, but still a job nonetheless (and a job that many love doing) -- and I'd guess 99% of posters on this forum could not handle the work and are in no position to judge whether or not a courier's labor has merit. You, being a prime example.

Of course, the job of a courier has taken on much hype in the last few years, hence these cheeseball centerfold-esque glamourshots posted in this thread. Couriers are no different from cabbies or food delievery people...but they still are engaging in a labor that the market demands and remunerates.

I am interested in hearing your half-baked ideas on labor, so please continue your thoughts. And I recommend visiting a large city like NY or Chicago and walking up to a seasoned courier and telling them their job is fake with as much condescension...the response would probably be the same if you said the same to anyone busting their asses to earn a living: a punch in the face or a verbal assault.
Wow, butthurt much? Chill out. First of all, I'm pretty sure I could handle the job of a courier riding around some flat city on a FG bike. Especially considering the fact that I train and race road bikes on steep hills. Are you seriously trying to call someone out on bikeforums? Would you like a picture of my quads or something? A picture of my penis? Srsly what gives you the idea that you know how much or how hard I ride? I train 6 days a week.

My post was nothing more than a little snide remark. A joke, if you will. Maybe you should try relaxing and not taking yourself so seriously. This is the problem w/ the whole FG scene. You guys get so up in arms about everything, even when someone simply says the word "fixie." Remind me not to ever make a joke w/o using a smiley face ever again, jesus. To be honest, though, it is a horrible job that many people do just to be cool. I don't know anyone in their right mind who would do this job. It is one of the most dangerous, least paid jobs and it has absolutely NO future.

Also, we do have some couriers here in Austin. I think there is only one service that still uses bikes, but they're around. Probably about 8 or so of them working each shift.

Well doesn't it?

I mean, not in a bad way. It's just the first thing I thought of, that's all.

And who told that middle one that it was ok to go out dressed like the clown from the hunchback cartoon? i bet he got his lunch money stolen more times than not by guys with no necks in letterman jackets. this picture should be called" when untallented theatre nerds go out in public"

i can't really talk **** on the peter pan kid. it takes alot of guts to dress like a fairy not just be one

the bag or the bike? I think a well-made bamboo bike wouldn't be too heavy. The carbon lugs on that do look a bit haphazard though, so it could be a bit on the chunky side.
