are you running a brake?

das_pyrate 08-11-09 01:50 PM

it is easy to take your feet out

run a brake if you are new to fixed

also don't get that feetbelt/powergrip crap if you plan on doing long rides

sanderswm 08-11-09 02:01 PM

Keep the straps loose while you get used to it, then tighten them up as get comfortable riding in them.

j3ffr3y 08-11-09 02:08 PM

when I stop, I tip right over, every time. I go through a helmet every time I stop.

hairnet 08-11-09 02:11 PM

Just do it.

chevy42083 08-11-09 02:26 PM

Yup, just fall right over.

squeegeesunny 08-11-09 03:05 PM

Yes, I am running both brakes but my front one is crap and makes this squeaky noise and its gonna take around 2 weeks or so before i can afford a nice front brake. It still works though.

das_pyrate 08-11-09 03:07 PM

you might have a non-machined front rim.

Samwiches 08-11-09 03:08 PM

i fall over all the time sucks cuz im like coming up to a red light and i now its about to happen again but oh wellz

das_pyrate 08-11-09 03:12 PM

ya me to i dont ware halmet coz cool wen fall i hit haed but dnt look coz nasty

squeegeesunny 08-11-09 03:12 PM

My back rim makes no noise but they are both the same kind of rims..

dayvan cowboy 08-11-09 03:29 PM

the only time clips have ever been a problem for me was the time i had to try and jump a curb to avoid getting hit by a car or flying straight into the brick wall on the side of the road at 30ish mph. Getting flipped over the bars while you're feet are attached is awkward.

I know the feeling, I was riding with my brother, he yelled my name, I squeezed my front brake and as chances would have it I was on a patch of wet leaves, I went sliding across the ground with my bike in tow, not fun.

Zachee 08-11-09 05:19 PM

Thank god your back patricky.

By the way here's a pro-tip, if you're riding in traffic you can't fall over like normal because you would die. So just tip over and put your body weight on a car for the duration of the light. It's cool, they understand.

Mattpatt 08-11-09 05:26 PM

Why not pull your foot out before you stop so when you do, you won't look silly.

I flipped over the handlebars once and did a full front flip and landed in a leg over the bar skid which was amazing because I was still strapped in. You did not do this because you are a noob and you do not have sex with girls.
