Cross lever brake (s??), soma chain tensioner, saddle: any other upgrades?

ilikebikes 08-12-09 08:15 PM

Forte inline brake's, Cannondale stem, Chris King headset, Cool Stop "Wet Dry" brake pads, vintage Campy euro seat post, Soma saddle, Soma chain tensioner, vintage chrome cable clamps, vintage water cages, and MKS Sylvan pedals. :)
EDIT: Forgot to mention I switched out the crappy new Schwinn headbadge for a vintage Schwinn headbadge.

Dannihilator 08-12-09 08:16 PM

I've use MKS with nylon toe straps, and have even gone without, but been thinking about giving the Egg Beaters another shot, I didn't like them the first time around but I don't think I was being fair as I only rode them for around 25 miles. :o plus I've got this cornball pair of shoes, I think I hate them due to the fact that they are "colorful" and are a bit to narrow for my feet, a few guys I know tell me "thats the way they fit man." but I like to be comfortable when I ride, and these shoes ain't it! They are actually MTB shoes but I couldn't see spending more money on another set.

Don't know why they look rusty and beat in this pic as they are almost new.

Do you know if they had any other diameters? I have a fat tubed Cannondale that needs some clips. I'm in PHL as well. ;)

I think that was the biggest size he had, but they do have a few Cannondale frames hanging around, maybe they have a few on one of the frames?

Nah, zip ties look like ****, I say go ahead and see if you can find the chrome cable clamps, if I see anything I'll let you know.

antilogy 08-12-09 09:30 PM

I, too, feel I have a boring ass Madison.

Conti gatorskins, MKS AR2 pedals with Winwood clips, White Jagwire brake cables, PB bottle cages, PBSF, Blackburn Mars 3.0 (which I think is brighter than the PBSF), MTE P7 2 mode, Blackburn Voyager, Kool stop brakes, cut down seat tube, and white tape for the rear cable that I'm trying out.

In the future I'm thinking of different stem, seat post, and cranks.

Zip ties allow the cable to wiggle too much and the repetitive motion eats into the top tube clearcoat by the seatpost.

Not to mention that, by the point you get the zip tie tight enough to not let the cable housing wiggle, you're putting a lot of compression on an aluminum tube.

Astronomical 08-12-09 09:32 PM

what the **** does clearcoat matter on an aluminum bike, assuming your cannondale is aluminum.

peabodypride 08-12-09 09:36 PM

It's pretty, and is aluminum.

Astronomical 08-12-09 09:38 PM

guess you shouldn't lock it up then.

The kind of dings you get from locking up a bike (although you don't get any if you're careful) are completely different from a cable housing repeatedly rubbing into one spot.

Astronomical 08-12-09 09:45 PM

My flow is ****ing heavy right now, do you have a tampon by any chance

peabodypride 08-12-09 09:45 PM

Just look in the used tampon bin next to the toilet.

crushkilldstroy 08-12-09 09:49 PM

Heads up. Those SPD cleats ain't compatible with your Eggbeaters.

Actually I do, being I live with three women (wife and kids, I'm not that good! ) we alway have an assortment of tampons, pads (day, night, heavy and light flow.) and panty liners. :thumb: and I'm the lucky guy that gets to buy them all!
