I just got that fixie, d@mn son!
Hey I got a fixie yesterday. Well it's a flipflop wheel but I put it on fixed wheel. Here is the bike:
https://www.dawescycles.com/p-170-mono.aspx
I am putting the manufacturers pic cause it's stock and has no new different parts or anything. I was between this one and the Surly Steamroller. same price - 630 pounds. I think that's about $1000. What do you think of the bike? As you may guess I will never be sure whether the surly is better or not but it just seems too much money for the bike which apart from the frame isn't that much special. And then again the frame isn't something special either. One thing I don't like on my bike though and that's the pedals. Maybe I am not used to this type of pedals maybe they suck. I'll change them later.
Also a small testimonial - I've also recently bought the Trek Soho carbon belt. To be more exact I bought it about 5 weeks ago. Something started ticking and clicking. I don't know whether it's normal but I don't like it. I heard another soho was taken in cause it had some grinding noise. If you are thinking of buying it I wouldn't go for a belt bike yet. I am an engineer and I should have known better. The technology still needs time to be refined and the first models will have problems. I can't believe how fun a fixie is although I think I will crash sooner or later.

I'm not in the US. I live in the UK. The reason I bought it over the surly was primarily because it is a british manufacturer and of course because I think its a better bike

Hey, I quite like that bike. Welcome to the world of ss/fg
NOW, what the hell is this about genuine dawes? I thought Dawes was bought out by BD along w/ Mercier, Motobecane, etc. How can two different companies be producing bikes under this name at the same time? Someone explain plz. Are there still genuine Motobecanes and Merciers produced, too?

the pie plate is a BS. Don't know why it's there. It might be that they use the same wheels on some of their geared bikes and don't consider it important to remove it. I don't like it but I probably won't remove it. We'll see.
