Front or back Break

I know every one is sick of all the break vs breakless stuff but thats not what this is.
i want to know whitch break you ride on your fixed gear front or back? and why my build is almost done and i want to put oneof the two on.

front. i have never seen anyone running a fixed gear with just a back brake. a front brake is what you want.

A back break can hurt.

I prefer a front brake :)

Front brake or you could get a back break.

front brake gives something like 70% of stopping power, so if you need just one, i agree that it should be the front. gotta ask, though, why not both? biking is cool. brakes make it so much safer, so you can be cooler longer. or maybe not kill a pedestrian. seriously! wtf?! start a trend. oops. already started. almost all bicyclists have had two brakes forever. with a fixed gear, you'll kinda have three. maybe three is better than two, which is better than one? or you could use hub brakes and rim brakes and a fixed wheel. then you'd have five! look out campy!

seriously. i have google give me all news articles with the word bicycle in them. way over half are about now dead bicyclists. usually involves a car, but a couple of good brakes and an alert rider and there won't be anything to write about.

stepping off soapbox now.

Front brake. Yep.

if you need a brake, go ride a road bike.

rear brake on a Fixie is like a screen door on a submarine

I just installed a new brake on my friends bike. Some idiot put the lever on the right side, so the cable has to make a very drastic bend. Not a huge deal, but very irritating when you are tired and grouchy. Besides, if you ever ride any bike ever anywhere with two brakes, you'll have the front on the left, so you'll already be used to it.

oldfixguy 08-20-09 02:45 AM

Breaks. :roflmao2:
