Because riding a fixed gear is different than riding a BMX even if you are doing tricks. It's like saying "I never understood why people rode track bikes in the street?". Sure most bikes are not made for these tricks, but there is a market for them and appropriate frames and parts are being made every day. I'm not even into tricks that much but I still appreciate them. They may not be as technical or impressive as bmx, but you don't need to do spins down giant stair sets or flips to have fun. Besides, most trick riders use their bike to get around too. I'm sure they enjoy that aspect as much as any of us and prefer it over riding a bmx from place to place.

i'd say fixed gear freestyle is like playing guitar hero. people on bmx bikes who do crazy **** don't get why people waste their time doing wheelies and spins on fixed gears, but fgfs people just do it's coz it's fun.
mind you i'm **** at tricks. whatever. also i don't get how he pops his rear tire up like that so high to get on top of those benches. i can't even see him really move his legs
