ripped my jeans

I forgot to roll up my jeans today, and they got caught and tore.

its not real bad, its about an inch off of the seam, and 5 inches long. should I try to have them repaired, or should I cut them off?

oh, and they're raw if that matters.

j3ffr3y 08-22-09 07:10 PM

"have them fixed"? dude, just sew them up.
edit: if you do cut them, above the knee for sure.

Scrodzilla 08-22-09 07:14 PM

I can't believe this a serious matter worthy of actual discussion. They're jeans.

feetpower 08-22-09 07:22 PM

hey hey its probably his favorite pair of skinny jeans! :D

Vitus_979 08-22-09 07:25 PM

Are those stf's? I bought raw 501's and cut them. :thumb:

jpdesjar 08-22-09 07:40 PM

Is this for serious?!
Yikes

I thought this going to be about warning people of the dangers of getting pants caught in moving drive train parts. Be careful everyone, roll em up high.
Be glad you didn't get more than your fancy pants caught in the works bud.

my sewing is sketchy at best. they would probably come out worse if I tried to fix them.

actually, yes it is serious. I'm awful at making decisions. not only do I take forever, but I usually make the wrong one.

and yeah, I was lucky. It jerked my leg really hard, but no injuries.

nahh 08-22-09 08:10 PM

so what are raw jeans?

kaseri 08-22-09 08:10 PM

Two words.... Daisy Dukes.

Fugazi Dave 08-22-09 08:49 PM

Below the knee. Next time you crash in them the skin on your knees will thank you.

Also, I can't believe I'm posting in this thread. SSFG really is doomed.

All the indigo is left in the denim, making them very dark blue (usually) instead of being prewashed like most jeans. This lets you gradually make your own fades to look more natural and also lets stain all light-fabriced furniture and light shoes with non-removable indigo.

BTW: Cut very close to the knee, then sew it to prevent fraying and cuff it up in case you aren't a seamstress. I think 501's are a bit to baggy just past the knee to be good below the knee.

Tomo_Ishi 08-22-09 10:50 PM

I would cut up high enough so you don't get sucked into the chain. I just did that. You cut to whatever the length and tuck the ends. Saw it over twice. Done!

I did it by a string and a needle. No sewing machine. ... Stitching is not straight, but ... if you are a guy, no one looks at you below your thighs. Right?

chase. 08-23-09 05:11 PM

just patch them with another piece of denim and use your zigzag stitch to lock everything together. remember to roll up next time.

Sorry darlin'. My mom's not into chicks.

thompsonpost 08-23-09 05:30 PM

 Anyone else want some?

TheGreek 08-23-09 06:25 PM

you could call and ask mom and dad to send you money to get new hipster pants so you can look cool and ironic in skinny pants

Scrodzilla 08-23-09 06:34 PM

Or maybe work a few extra shifts down at the gloryhole.

fify. too far?

TheGreek 08-23-09 07:07 PM

Hipsters never actually work...It cuts into time that could be spent looking ironic or growing patchy beards. Gloryhole is their hobby
