Bike Forums - New Sram Torpedo Fixed-Free Hub

I just looked the hub over at my LBS who got one in. As they do most of their ordering from QBP I presume that is who they obtained it from.

It is a high flange hub and their sample is matte black finished. Per the 2010 SRAM tech manual it weighs 480 grams. The manual also indicates that it is available in 120mm and 130mm widths as well as both black and silver finishes. Spoke circle diameter is listed as 67mm.

Switching between fixed and freewheel operation is done via a screw head in one end of the axle. The axle nuts are cap nuts with a hole in the dome of one so the operation changing screw is accessable with the wheel installed. It takes a narrow flat blade screwdriver. Switching appears like it would be faster than unbolting and reversing a dual sided hub wheel to do a fixed/freewheel switch.

Sprockets look to be standard IGH sprockets. The one that came on the hub is flat and at a glance appeared to be for 1/8" chain. It looks like almost any standard SA, SRAM or Shimano IGH sprocket could be used. Chainline is listed as 42.5mm with a SRAM dished procket and 46mm with a flat one.
