Axle keeper add-on

Hey all,

I've seen some pictures on here with bikes that have axle keeper add-ons on the fork ends. They certainly look classy. Can anyone explain the the function of this add-on? I ask because the bolt rods of course are pointing in from the rear.

Also, does anyone have links to purchase this type of item? I like the looks of the item enough that if it serves a good purpose I'd like to get a set.

It assume you're talking about a chain tensioner?

They make it easier to get more tension on your chain when you put your wheel in the horizontal drop outs. You "unscrew the bolts" to pull the axle farther back.

And a couple places to purchase them:

There are many different varieties, but they all pretty much serve the same purpose and are of good quality.

They are chain tensioners! Thank you! Gee, feeling like a real bright bulb at the moment.

I use those MKS jobs as posted above. They make tensioning ad straightening your wheel extremely easy, and they look badass.

They're also very tiny, so not a big deal for gram counters.

If you want a little bling, check out what they offer at danscomp.com or flatlandfuel.com (3/8" axles, of course).

IMHO if you're buying it online you're doing it wrong.
