Help me, please.
Hi there, I've got a problem regarding my rear derailleur.
Well, I've noticed this issued because, every couple seconds I'd pedal my cage plate and it would jolt it feels like my chain is skipping a couple of teeth every time. It irritates me. I've searched but wasn't so lucky. Please help. Yes, I am a noob at this, but I'd like to learn. Thanks. |
You'd get more response posting in the mechanics sections than in the single speed section, but most likely you have a stiff link in your chain.
|
yeah, you're right. Thanks a lot.
You know how to fix this by hand? |
hit it with a hammer.
|
apply nitro glycerine to the link then hit it with a hammer or check in the road section of the forum they might know better than I
|
-find the stiff link(s)
-put a thin, flat-bladded screwdriver through the the link -use leverage to separate the sides ever so slightly -check stiffness -repeat as necessary |
"Stiff Link? http://www.sheldonbrown.com/creaks.htmlIf you have a regular, repeating skip or hitch every 3 or 4 turns of the pedals, you may have a stiff chain link. This is commonly the link where the chain was joined when it was installed. When the chain tool presses the pin through the chain, the head of the pin tends to pull the uppermost chain plate along with it, so that the two outer plates are squeezing together against the inner plates. The easiest way to fix this is to bend the problem area of the chain into a "Z" shape, with the bad joint on the diagonal part, then flex the chain back and forth. This will slightly spread the tight plates, and free up the link. " |
Stiff link... sounds like a personal problem
