Yes, 2 years! This is my third bike. I have a tricked out 1987 Diamondback Arrival. I can no longer put any more unique parts onto that bike, so I started thinking about putting a new bike together. I have been looking at vintage/unique bike parts for awhile. I knew that I wanted the Snowflake Pattern rear wheel lacing, but could not find anyone that could do it. I happened upon a bike messenger one day who had the lacing that I wanted! So I finally found the name of someone that could lace up my back wheel (Marcus at Yojimbo’s did the lacing for me). I also wanted the Moustache Handlebar brake setup, like on the old 1990’s Bridgestones. Two brakes up front and two dummies on the rear. (I convinced a buddy of mine to do that setup on his Rivendell – photos enclosed) It just took me awhile to get the funds together, (and to justify the costs to myself) and to choose a frame. Then one day I saw the 1FG. I was hooked. Getting the parts together took another 14 months. So technically I have been thinking about this bike for over 2 years.

You're a very good collector, excpet for the 1FG part. Now, go hang that thing up in the trophy room and start on the next project. May i suggest a 22" circa 1990 Yeti FRO Pro in turquoise? :)
|
Thats funny, my everyday bike is a 1971 Schwinn Varsity. And by the way, I would love to get a 1990 Yeti! BTW, why don't you like the 1FG? It is very well made, and it has a bottle opener on the dropout!
