cross-lever question
Apologies if this has ever been discussed but I've been searching and can't quite find the info I'm looking for. I know there are shims available for using a brake lever with a 31.8mm clamp on 25.4mm bars but is there such a shim that allows the use of a cross-lever with a 25.4 or 26mm clamp on 22.2mm bars?
I sometimes switch between my bullhorns (25.4) and risers (22.2) and using electrical tape as a makeshift shim is bumming me out because my lever always moves around no matter how tight I crank the bolt. I've also tried a piece of rubber tube to no avail. Is there a proper 26 to 22.2mm shim out there somewhere???

You may be looking for something a little less redneck than this, but I've heard of people getting good results using aluminum from beer cans. The lining on the inside helps grab stuff. A long strip or two could be about what you need, so long as you don't cut your fingers off installing it.

hmm i used some piece of old innertube for 26 clamp iirc. maybe a couple pieces. it would flex, but it wouldn't really move since the rubber gripped the bar and the clamp.

Apologies for my ignorance here but I'm not sure what you mean. Are they like thick rubber bands? The piece of tube thing works for a while but always ends up loosening up, even if I wrap it twice. I was thinking of heading to Home Depot, finding some rubber or plastic hose that is the right size/thickness and cutting a slice to put between my lever and bars.

Yeah, they're basically thick strips of rubber that you use to shim the light's clamp to your handlebars.

i used a piece of an old relector mount, bend it as best you can around the bar, maybe a little hammering, and it makes a great stiff shim, otherwise, grab a piece of plumbing pipe from home depot (dont use brass, it will mush because it is a soft metal)
