I'm still undecided on bars, part of me wants bull horns, also have always liked just regular bars with oury grips. And how much did the fixed gear cog cost?
I'm kinda leaning towards the Windsor as I believe it comes fixed gear and I'd just ass a front brake and different bars. |
SST has front and rear brakes included. Cog was $24 and lockring $17. I got the Surly ones...

Don't think I'll need a rear brake since I'm lookig to go fixed gear but I guess either way Windsor or sst I'll have to add something. Hmmm decisions decisions.

I'd also look at the Kilo TT if you want a steeper geometry and more utility to add racks and stuff... the new WT has all kinds of rack mounts, front and rear (even more than the regular TT and Pro), and will take some big wide tires. Just depends on what you're gonna wanna do with it.

Imo if you are thinking of going fixed go fixed, forget about the ss. It does take a bit to really get used to it (a couple rides) but once you do you will not want to look back. I mean for ss you could just use your current bike and not change gears, instant ss! ;P
I got a kilo tt as my first fg 6 months ago and it's a really fun bike, best in that price range I think. Right now I am in the process of upgrading to an iro frame, will probably use some of the basic kilo parts for now on it and upgrade bit by bit. If I had it to do over I would have spent the extra $ and got the iro in the first place. If you get a kilo or probably anything from bikes direct, you mine as well order new pedals and tires at the same time :) |
