Acceleration
How fast can you brave cyclists accelerate to 50 km/h or 31mph from a dead start?
I guess a velodrome would be the best way to test yourself. However a flat road with little wind seems more realistic for most SS/FG riders. Round to the nearest 1/10 of a second. Also, include your gear ratio. Good luck. |

May I draft a bus?

I doubt I've ever gone 50km/h on my fixed gear to be honest.

1.4s
Little slower at the equator |
Scientists estimate we're thirty years away from being able to accurately measure events that brief in duration.

Okay, I'm willing to admit that asking for 1/10 of a second in precision is to accurate for most people to test themselves.
Otherwise, all it takes is a stopwatch. I timed myself today, 23 seconds. |
It took probably 5 seconds to hit 40mph...
...going downhill. Seriously though, spinning that fast sucks, and I would not do it again. |
I have hit around 40mph + on a downhill with 48x16; spinning that fast is sometimes fun.
I do not know how long it would take me to reach 31mph from a dead stop on flat ground, though. |
.1 seconds. My ass going from the seat to the ground while mtb'ing.
