Schwinn Madison Stem Length

I have an '08 Schwinn Madison and feel too outstretched on my bike. I tried sliding the seat forward, but I still feel too outstretched on the hoods. I would like to change out the stem with something shorter and was hoping someone knew the length of the stock stem so I can order a stem that works for me.

Go to your LBS and test fit a few, your never going to get the right ones ordering through the mail.

What bike size do you have? On my Schwinn Madison 52cm, I have a Zoom adjustable stem to bring the bars up into a comfortable upright riding position.

In this case the size of the bike doesn't matter as they all came with the same stupid long stem.

Someone replied when I asked this question that on the Schwinn website it shows the '08 w/ a 115 stem. I just ordered a 100 for mine.

I was under the impression that they only came in three sizes, small, med, and large, my guess is the 54 is the med? or did you measure center to top of top tube?

They also come in XL, which is around 59-60. My '08 L is approx. 57-58 (TT)-
I've also heard that an '07 L is not the same size as an '08 L, I'm not sure if
the '09 and '10 are sized weird, I wish they'd use numbers instead of letters!

Measure your stem. From the top cap bolt to the center of the clamp face in cm or mm. Then see how much shorter you want. I think stock was 120mm

Yes, 54cm is a medium, got it from the Schwinn website.
