Knog Frog Vs theft?

Ive just bought a front and rear knog frog, since they are just effectively strapped to your bike, is it generally safe to leave them on for 15 - 20 minutes max while locked up, has anyone ever had one stolen? Or perhaps its worth the 45 seconds each way to take them off and replace them at every stop?

+1 most people I see get the one LED lights and they remain to be ninja cyclists. The 5 LED lights are really bright though.

+1 on just waiting until you need them to even attach them.

and +1 on getting a light that will actually make you visible at night.

They get stolen a lot in LA, even on group rides. Too bad.

You could secure them from underneath with a small ziptie. Most people looking to steal those expect them to pop right off.

get a real light. Those things are crap. I leave my Flea strapped on my bars whenever I go in places, and that's' worth way more than a Knog. Maybe someone will steal it and that would suck, but I have enough other things to worry about besides my friggin bike light's security.

pbsf and blaze will actually allow you to see and be seen.

otherwise get 3w led flashlights and o ring them to your bike. and as with anything, if it can be stolen it's worth taking with you if possible. if you don't have a bag with you knogs make really nice earrings.

+1000. They'll be doing you a favor if they swipe those things from your bike.

I had a knog frog on my bike for 4 months and it never got touched until my whole bike was stolen. Suprisingly 6 weeks later when I found the bike all that was missing was the seat, seatpost, and light.

So what if they don't help you see. I ride so much at night and maybe once a week having a light would be helpful. Cause about 600 years ago somebody came up with the idea of a street light, which lights more or less all the roads in more or less all towns. All I want is to not get pulled over.

And to be honest, I don't want cars to see me except from behind so they don't hit my back. Anytime I approach an intersection or a driveway or anywhere that a car wants to go, there is always this awkward confusion about who is going to go. if the car has the right of way and just goes like normal then no problem, but they always stop extra long, sometimes wait for you and then wave you on when they easily could have gone first and you wouldn't have even needed to slow down. Sometimes, they punch the accelerator cause they ain't waiting for no bike. If cars can't see me then i only have to predict what a car normally does when it doesn't see anyone. But if they do see me, and now I try to predict what this person thinks about bikes, will they stop and let me go, try to go first, who knows.

never had them stolen when I forgot to take them off when parked....but I've had them fall off if not installed properly

It's not a lamp to see the road....but other people can see you coming. especially when in flash mode. My town has street lights so no need for huge off road lights.

If you can't figure out how to install a Knog, then you probably shouldn't be doing much wrenching...

In a fight between a Knog Frog and theft, I am pretty sure theft would come out on top.

The Knog Frog's defense is pregnable, so you might want to look out for that.

Yup, there are now stronger cysts than the one LED version. I just bought one and it's good enough to be seen.

I have always held this same view of thinking up until tonite.
I was trying to make the light before it turned red and was going pretty fast. Just as I was about to cross the intersection a dude and his girl on bikes came out of nowhere (running the red light). Luckily I had time to slam on the breaks but a few seconds difference and it could have been ugly.
A front light could have possibly been helpful in this situation.

And to answer OP's question I have had 3 knogs stolen which is why I didn't have a light tonite. The small ones suck but the 3 rear LED isn't bad
