Get ripped off here!!

http://www.redyourdead.com/

I hope it's not just me, but it looks like a company who's taking advantage of the fixie hype and selling a whole bunch of **** for lots of dough.
I mean look at the components! They're garbage! and the bike itself looks like something that came out of a dumpster! and they're asking $650 for it!! What a bunch of bull.

Just wanted warn anyone out there...

ThisJauntyGent 09-17-09 10:24 PM

There are so many things wrong with that frame...

alexgate 09-17-09 10:27 PM

Why are the wheels different sizes?

dcdude 09-17-09 10:35 PM

Please note that our bikes do not come with brakes so be very cautious when riding. If you are a beginner, practice before you hit the streets.

oh god

According to their blog, they'll powdercoat any bike for $100... That's the cheapest I've ever seen, kinda makes me wonder how bad a powder job can get.

Here's an interview with one of their 'riders':

"How long have you been riding and why did you get into Fixed Gears ?
Hmm, I've been riding for only 7 months as of now. I think what first got me interested in track bikes was seeing hipsters at red lights trackstanding, and me wondering how the hell they do it."

mondaycurse 09-17-09 11:09 PM

...The other has rode a whole 9 months and is 14 years old :notamused:. I'm starting to wonder if they're trolling.

Around here (southern california) you can easily get a powdercoat for less than $100. I just got a frame blasted and powdercoated for $80.

Is it "Red You R Dead" or "Red Your Dead?" If it's the latter, a grammatical error in the company name is embarrassing.

jtgotsjets 09-18-09 01:32 AM

Red Your Dead is acceptable grammatically. Think about it a little harder.

Those bikes are tiny.

The website reads as if its a MBA class project, some business proposal idea, not an actual business.

Duh. Barspinz mang!

bonechilling 09-18-09 05:36 AM

What kind of idiot feedback loop do they live in where no one tells them that they spelled the name of their own company wrong?

the_don 09-18-09 06:08 AM

Osobike!!!!!

well, i guess he did spell his company name correct, but his bikes were worse than this. For a trick bike it seems well thought out. For the price..... maybe not, but it's hard to get a business going.

I'm thinking about it and no it's not. Looks like they wanted their acronym to by "RYD" as in ride. So it looks like they pushed the R and the You together to spell "your" the wrong way, so their acronym is not RYRD, which, well spells nothing. So they kind screwed up their logo. your does not mean you're. there is no "you are" in your. you're is a contractions, your is possession. you don't posses death, it kills then possesses you.

oh and i know i used a run on sentence (i know someone will get on me for that), i was typing as is i was verbally telling this to someone.

SingleSpeeDemon 09-18-09 07:25 AM

I can't stand when your is used as you're. For God's sake, people, pay attention in school.

rudetay 09-18-09 07:26 AM

To be ripping people off they'd have to be selling things, I have a hard time believing much of that is going on.

JohnDThompson 09-18-09 07:36 AM

It doesn't appear substantially different from the myriad other generic TIG-welded Asian "track" frames out there.

"Bring out your dead".

If you accept that "red" can be used as an action verb (that's a stretch) then it can be a grammatically correct sentence.

It would more or less mean "Paint those corpses you have."

That said, it's "Red You R Dead". It says so on the homepage.

And check out their sweet youtube vid. 3:30 of trackstands. Just trackstands. Nothing else. All in the same place.

Trackstands.

I'm glad the irony of my last sentence went over your head.

Demonic possession.

dsh 09-18-09 08:08 AM

Are you sure it was ironic?
