http://www.classicfuji.com/TeamFuji_1984_Page.htm

mine has yellow bar tape.

picked it up yesterday, pretty good shape. just needs a new front wheel and has minor scratches and rust.

heres the problem, it was going to be my first single speed...but looking at the original components

i dont want to remove anything...what to do

friday i got one of those in a trade. its in really bad condition, so i'm gonna convert it for a beater.

if its in good shape, however, keep it geared.

everything on it is fine except for the front wheel...needs minor stuff.

new brake cables, shifter cables...thats about it...guess i shall have no single speed

I would consider converting it if that's what you want. Just keep all the gears, etc so you can build it back up that way when you are sick of SS/FG.

If everything is functional, I say keep it as is and overhaul/restore.

I love 80s Fuji Team rode bikes. My Fuji Tiara is a lower model, but I love riding it every time. What size did you buy?

abstractform20 09-19-09 11:31 PM

not sure, either 52 or 54 cm.

im a new at bike mechanics and i suck terribly.

the fds on the team fuji and my jamis ventura were not shifting so i adjusted the cable tension and it played a little with the limit screws and they shifted fine...on the workstand.

i went to ride them today and apparently accomplished nothing...off to the bike mechanics forum

If the derailleur cables are super old, just replace them for a couple of dollars at your LBS. Also, if the downtube shifters are in friction mode, make sure they're tight.

yeah i noticed a little flip-flop pin that has friction mode and something else.

didnt really pay attention to it.

A bike like that doesn't deserve a conversion to ss IMO... unless you keep the orig. components and bring it back to its former glory at some point ;)
