Is the Mark V worth the money?

Is the Mark V worth the money? It's $150 more than a Kilo TT and and $200 more than a Windsor hour. Is it really worth this extra money and why?

tgscordv6 09-19-09 02:07 PM

Yes, no? Worth is the price a person will pay.

shubonker 09-19-09 02:18 PM

It's 2/3 lbs lighter than the BD bikes, if weight is your thing.

Pretty much.

It all depends on what you want on your bike, etc.

evildead 09-19-09 02:52 PM

buy the iro if you can afford it. It's a better bike all around.

renton20 09-19-09 03:55 PM

yes.

better wheels, better bars, better cranks, better cog and lockring, slightly more comfortable geo.

Needs to be as steep as possible.

hairnet 09-19-09 04:22 PM

cool name though

The Mark V is an outstanding frame. I'm building mine up as we speak. Can't go wrong with an IRO.

dayvan cowboy 09-19-09 05:04 PM

i love mine to death, ride it around constantly.

spaceballs 09-19-09 05:17 PM

How do you say it? Do you spell out I-R-O? Or is it like the name Ira, only with an "o" on the end?

DC_United_Fan 09-19-09 05:31 PM

I say I-R-O....Which is also how the owner of the company says it....

Spelled out. That settles it.

dayvan cowboy 09-19-09 06:17 PM

i just always spell it out real fast so that way it sounds like it could be either way.

Are you talking about my name? Or the name IRO?

To everyone else: So can anyone else confirm that the better components are worth the $150/200 more?
Are the Hour/TT decent?

alexgate 09-19-09 07:18 PM

Is it worth it to you? To me it would be. To some one else it would not. If you have cash burning a hole in your pocket go for it. If you are on a strict budge, I would say go with the bd bike. For me it is worth paying 1k+ and getting the exact bike I want.

tall&lanky 09-19-09 07:21 PM

It was worth it to me.

but seriously IRO's come with quality stuff. I really like their wheels. in fact, when I eventually do build up a new frame, I will probably order IRO wheels.

veganeric 09-19-09 08:17 PM

Get the Mark V and when you can afford it put a Nashbar carbon fork on it. The stock fork is crazy heavy plus it will ride smoother with a carbon one. Seriously, I'm not a weight weenie at all and was completely shocked by what an anchor the stock fork is. I have since bought a considerably more expensive bike that I'm probably going to sell because I prefer my Mark V.
