chainline issueee

hi, my chainline isnt straight, it wobbles when spinning. do you guys how to fix this issue?? thx

the_don 09-20-09 07:02 AM

probably the chainring being bent (if you are having a rhythmic side to side movement of the chain).

if the chain is tight and slack, when the drivetrain is moving then it means the chainring is not centered on the crank.

Have you made sure the chainring bolts are tight?

Is this a conversion? You might need a new BB with a different spindle length.

he said it wobbles when spinning. incorrect BB length would not cause that.

(come on and use your brain!)

sorry, that was a bit harsh

yes my bike is a conversion, and when the bike is spinning the chain moves out of its place, looks wavy. the top and bottom chain isnt parallel with each other when spinning.

Even if its not the problem, check your chainring bolts.

my chainring bolt are tight, i tried loosening them and spinning the chain and hit the chainring with a small rubber hammer to put it in place and tight it up again, but i still get the same issue.
