Was looking into getting a set of Oury grips, just wanted some opinions on whether I should pick up the road or mountain ones. I run a Truativ XC straight race bar on my bike. I'm open to other opinions on different grips as well. Right now I just have a set of Hoffman bmx grips from my work. I ride 20+ miles every morning and commute to work everyday and am on my bike a lot, so I'm just looking for something comfortable and not too thin. Thanks.

If you're not running brakes, get the MTN version, or whichever you lbs has. This is really not a huge decision.

I have used ODI's too and they're great grips, if you want all that lock on stuff. They're quite heavier than a regular Oury, and I used the S&M version, so they wore out pretty quickly. They're also like $30-$40 for the whole shebang, and I really don't see any significant advantage if you put oury's on correctly.

I have Oury's on every single one of my bikes that has flats, risers or BMX, and they are my only choice for grips because I like the comfort and thickness. I use locking grips for my MTB's and Eastern Traildigger since I'm pulling up on the bars a lot for trails, jumping and urban freeride - otherwise they twist, and this is the significant advantage. My flatland BMX bike has the non-locking grips because that bike is constantly hitting the ground in crashes and I destroy grips on that bike.

On my FG and other bikes that I'm not jumping around, trail riding or doing tricks on, I glue them on with some "Weld-it" glue. They stay on without twisting and can be removed with an air compressor. If you're not pulling up on the bars or riding trails, the regular grips should do fine. Just put them on right.

I should have probably also specified that my ODI's are on my dirt jumper; you're right on in that they're better suited for offroad builds.

i have the oury mountain grip on my mountain bike and it works great. i love ourys they're so comfy and its hard to argue with $11

I love my ourys ... and they just get better with age. they do get pretty grimy though, and get my hands pretty nasty after a while.

...so then they dont get better with age.from my experience,they are cool for the first ride,then they get super grimy as stated above. i also ride gloves though and glove+oury=too much padding

animal edwin grips on all my bikes! except for track no track bike should ever have grips like that just bar tape!
