Because being a d-bag offers a zen-like simplicity over being polite and courteous.

Aw, but I was only asking a question, I am sooo sincerely curious.

But I have an answer to your question too: the reason is simply that you live in LA, and most people in LA - not all of course, but present company not excluded - are ******bags, so naturally there are many ******bags among LA's fixed-gear riders; just as there are among LA's bikeforums posters.

ADSR 09-30-09 01:21 PM

Because most people ask dumb questions. "Duuh, so it can't coast?" "I don't want a fixy because I don't want to not use breaks lol!" "Why do you ride that, lol?"

Wow, never heard those questions before.

keendeanotaur 09-30-09 01:30 PM

Its not that most "fixie" riders are ******bags, its that most people are ****** bags. You're noticing more dbag fixed gear riders because you either have an interest or a problem with them; that makes them stand out to you more.

sooprvylyn 09-30-09 01:31 PM

Nah, its not the LA thing, i just moved from Richmond VA where they are D-Bags there too. It's the BS elitist attitude that I am referring to. It's the same D-Bag attitude you get from most LBS workers.

And yeah, I did/do the fixie thing too, but c'mon guys it doesn't make you better than anyone just cuz your in the "in" crowd on your bike. And having a "real" track frame doesn't entitle you to be more of a D-Bag either.

sooprvylyn 09-30-09 01:32 PM

I guess its more that they are total D-bags to each other that gets my goat.

TRaffic Jammer 09-30-09 01:38 PM

The me me me me self centred-ness of our post millennium North America, has assured us a great, vast supply of d-bags for many years to come. Convert them to fuel.

Then Richmond VA must be full of ******bags too, especially if you're representative of that place.

dcdude 09-30-09 01:59 PM

i'll have you know that Richmond, VA's concentration of d-bags is no greater than any other east coast city

Scrodzilla 09-30-09 01:59 PM

RVA Bike Lock Crew?

Omiak 09-30-09 02:02 PM

A loud minority?

dcdude 09-30-09 02:04 PM

I don't even know what that is?

das_pyrate 09-30-09 06:41 PM

why do people who come on here make generalizations? hipsters/******bags≠ALL fixed gear riders.

TheDean 09-30-09 06:46 PM

hey now

dsh 09-30-09 07:31 PM

Why are people with consecutive o's in their name usually furries?
Not all of them, but most of them?

huhenio 10-01-09 04:12 PM

MPLSdunk 10-01-09 04:18 PM

i get annoyed when people ask tons of questions about my bike on the light rail. i don't show it though. i try to be polite. i will be rude if i got my headphones in and you come up and tap me on the shoulder though...

I ride fixie because I'm a taoist.
I'm a ****** bag because I'm not really a taoist.

PluperfectArson 10-01-09 08:23 PM

I did not say hi to two cyclists today on my commute to and from my meeting because I was in a hurry, set a new record for how fast I made it across town.

Am I a ****** bag?
