Because being a d-bag offers a zen-like simplicity over being polite and courteous.

But I have an answer to your question too: the reason is simply that you live in LA, and most people in LA - not all of course, but present company not excluded - are ******bags, so naturally there are many ******bags among LA's fixed-gear riders; just as there are among LA's bikeforums posters. |
Because most people ask dumb questions. "Duuh, so it can't coast?" "I don't want a fixy because I don't want to not use breaks lol!" "Why do you ride that, lol?"
Wow, never heard those questions before. |
Its not that most "fixie" riders are ******bags, its that most people are ****** bags. You're noticing more dbag fixed gear riders because you either have an interest or a problem with them; that makes them stand out to you more.
|
Nah, its not the LA thing, i just moved from Richmond VA where they are D-Bags there too. It's the BS elitist attitude that I am referring to. It's the same D-Bag attitude you get from most LBS workers.
And yeah, I did/do the fixie thing too, but c'mon guys it doesn't make you better than anyone just cuz your in the "in" crowd on your bike. And having a "real" track frame doesn't entitle you to be more of a D-Bag either. |
I guess its more that they are total D-bags to each other that gets my goat.
|
The me me me me self centred-ness of our post millennium North America, has assured us a great, vast supply of d-bags for many years to come. Convert them to fuel.

i'll have you know that Richmond, VA's concentration of d-bags is no greater than any other east coast city

Not all of them, but most of them? |
Because I can.

i get annoyed when people ask tons of questions about my bike on the light rail. i don't show it though. i try to be polite. i will be rude if i got my headphones in and you come up and tap me on the shoulder though...

I'm a ****** bag because I'm not really a taoist. |
I did not say hi to two cyclists today on my commute to and from my meeting because I was in a hurry, set a new record for how fast I made it across town.
Am I a ****** bag? |
