HOLD FAST straps
I think clips and straps are better unless you are going to be doing tricks like John Prolly.
They come in a bunch of colors, and that's important to today's fixed-gear enthusiast.
I feel like they might be a little more comfortable than clips and straps, depending on your shoes.
i keep going back and forth between these and clips/straps, but i dont trick and these seem to be more for that. they look better than power grips though.
Too expensive for me, I don't really understand why people need to pay so much for straps

two dollars guys. i used one for awhile until my clips and straps came in. works fine, but if you do some hardcore skidding , you are putting so much force on the pedal, sometimes it may start bending. but i dont know, i used them on a crappy stock alloy pedal that was like 50 years old. $2 doesnt seem bad compared to hold fast. (how much are they? like $50 < ? ) |
they've gotten alot of really good reviews, even from people who don't just do tricks. they're not that expensive compared to nice double straps. cheaper than my toshis. I'll probably order a pair when I get some spare cash.
I'm happy with my double straps and clips but if I were to get straps it would probably be Hold Fast. They look like they are well built and they have been tested by some pretty decent riders. If you're going to trust velcro as foot retention it shouldn't just be any velcro and fabric slapped together.

It's also worth noting that the hold fast guys put a lot of time into their product.
The holdfasts use buckes to attach to the pedal, and velcro to attach to your shoe, which gives you a lot more (and easier) adjustment than the the all velcro knock offs. Also I don't know where the rumor started of holdfasts magically giving people super strong forces... |
I heard they only fit BMX pedals like Odyssey. Is this true?
yeah, i was wondering the same. i have the mks streams and every pic i see of the holdfast, they are on some odyssey twisted platforms
i wanna get some (i do tricks) but i don't want to spend anymore on pedals |
I have been waiting almost 2 weeks and they still haven't shipped mine. I can't wait to get them in though.
if it didnt need bmx style pedals, then id probably 100% get them.
People run them with the mks with no problems.
hmm... any pictures of that?
I think they're worth it. Saw them on a buddies bike and they are well built. He did have BMX pedals though. The straps are pretty wide underneath and are probably too big for most pedals out there.
My SPD pedals were cheaper than these.
I looked at the testimonials and found this line funny: "I no longer have to buy two sets of toe clips a week" |
Why is that funny? Trick riders break their clips all the time.
