Some pics of my girls varsity
I built this up a couple months ago. I stripped it down completely, painted it, got gold deep v's, Bontrager risers, Bontrager saddle, KMC chain, etc., etc.. I like how deep the paint looks in person, as the flash kind of ruined the real color. It looks very light in the pictures. It was a real pain to paint because I ran into weird problems with irregularities and different things. Let me what you guys think. I really want her to try fixed here soon!

Did you rattle can it? How much time and work did that take? I'm considering painting a frame myself, but it seems difficult.

Yes, I did rattle can it. It was the second bike I did and I was and am still learning proper technique and so fourth. To be completely honest, this frame took me a long time. Probably 30 hours, no joke. I had to strip a few layers off and re-sand and shoot because of the fact that I am a perfectionist and wanted to show my girl that I could give her a nice, durable finish with a spray can.
Needless to say, she was more than gracious . All sexual jokes aside, she really liked it. There are a few chips here and there that really bother me because I poured my heart into this build. I am considering installing a black Origin 8 crank set on it, black LR front brake, and black Origin 8 stem. I really want to get this thing decked out for her, but she isn't a huge rider nor does she care about those parts. I already put a lot of my own money into it, so I will more than likely just let her ride it as is around Oregon State this year. It's probably one of the sickest single speeds cruising around those parts.

I second the rear brake idea. Unless your goal is to make your next ******* a toothless one.
A little redundancy is usually a good thing when it comes to non-trivial stuff like the ability to stop.

Do a search. Lots of rattle can threads. Not difficult, but it is time consuming and powdercoating will often be a better option.
Nice job on the bike OP. Purple and Gold, school colors? I also would suggest the rear brake. A lot of people don't have proper braking technique to rely solely on the front; rear brake would be nice. I also like to use the rear brake when scrubbing speed on a downhill.

I was wondering what kind of varsity.
I was expecting a girls varsity team.
Thread is disappointing.

nice bike...even if I did misread the title and expect pics of the 'girls varsity' something or other...swim team might have been cool.

LMFAO...sorry about the "girls varsity" business. I would have been excited about that too. Thanks for all the compliments everyone. As for the rear brake, the budget didn't call for one at the time, but it wil be on it before she rides it to and fro class.
Not the school colors, just colors she really likes.
No need for foot retention, she just cruises a long and it's a SS anyways.
The bars are just an aluminum Bontrager MTB riser. Although there is like no rise whatsoever. That's why I liked them. Subtle, smooth, and hot.
Like I stated in my previous post, the 1 piece is going sometime. Not sure when, but it will not be on the bike next year if I have anything to say about it.
