New pedals needed...
i have been commuting 8+ miles round trip on my bmx bike for weeks now (just moved) and i decided it was time for a change. so two days ago i bought a 2010 langster from my LBS and a pair of armadillo tires (700c x 25c). i love the bike but the stock plastic pedals suck.
where can i find a reasonably priced pair of decent pedals (<$75) that are all black (including toe clips and straps). any help would be appreciated... |
Try the shop that you bought your bike from.

Are the pedals plastic?
When I had a langster it has metal pedals and plastic clips. Plastic clips are actually quite good, they are more comfortable than the metal MKS clips I have used. For $75 you could get a pair of clipless shoes and pedals from performance bikes. |
For $48 I bought Black MKS GR-9, MKS steel toe clip and Christophe leather straps. Super comfortable and sturdy. i love them <3

Get some MKS GR-9's and whatever toe clips and straps you can find.

^ mine came with stock plastics and im just worried about wear and tear cause ive had a few pedal strikes already.
My LBS doesn't have anything im looking for instock and everyone in there rides clipless. ive been lurking here for a while and thought id get a good opinion in here. and those pedals look good. Thanks for the help. Time for a google-thon before i go out... |
IMO plastic pedals are intended strictly as road test pedals as most bike manufacturers expect experienced riders to change them to what they prefer. In fact most middle to higher end bikes do not even come with pedals.

MKS pedals are decent but my favourite pedals are the Suntour Superbe or XC Pro... there is simply not a better pedal than these.
The construction is almost identical and both are fitted with cartridge beaings Since they are no longer made you have to find them on the secondary market and they may spoil you for anything else. |
For 34 USD, I purchased my MKS Sylvan track pedals and MKS metal cages. I had straps to use already, so I did not have to pay for that.
