What's the cleanest fender to run on a singlespeed?

Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

A note. I have th PB Hardcore fenders on my Surly 1x1 commute bike. Its 26" and not 700c but the front fender has about the same coverage.

The front fender does not wrap around (reach down) far enough to be totally effective. They do a great job for the most part when compared to having no fender,... but my shoes get soaked in short order and the bottom bracket area on my powdercoated frame looks like it was hit by a sand blaster (which it is when you ride in the rain).

If you really love your bike, get different/better fenders, or you may look into some protective tape to go on the bottom bracket area. Mine looks and feels like sandpaper after only 2 seasons of rainy riding.

I like the plastic clip-ons:

They pop on and off in seconds.

You typically need to extend the rear fender past past the vertical tangent line of the rear tire to stop spray from landing on your back.
