What is the best chain?

There are a lot of factors and many people have different criteria when choosing their favourite chain.

So what is your favourite and why?

BTW, I am looking for a lightweight quiet chain and am looking at the KMC K710 SL.

A chain is a chain, it's only job is to transfer power without breaking. It either does that, or it doesn't.

I think any claims that one chain is more quiet than another is highly suspect since chains don't make noise. A chain is quiet or not depending on how well it mates with your drivetrain

i have been using kmc kool chains...they are great

It doesn't matter as long as they're cheap. My cheap $15 chains have lasted and performed as well as any of my pricier chains I've used in the past.

I think people consider weight as a factor as well.

You can stop there.

The K710 and K710 SL are great chains... you won't be unhappy with your choice.

I prefer the K710 just because it is a lower price than the SL and has never let me down and I have installed dozens and dozens of these to customer's bikes with no complaints either.

factors-

Do your chain hang low
Do it wobble to the flo'
Do it shine in the light
Is it platinum, Is it gold
Could you throw it over ya shoulda
If ya hot, it make ya cold
Do your chain hang low

I've always been fine with the Z410. It feels smooth, and on a steel bike with a threaded stem, velocity rims, high-flange hubs, Selle Turbo, and other weight-adding factors, I consider a chain to be a small price to pay in weight and money.

I've just gone with pretty much whatever is cheapest. SRAM on one build, and KMC on another. They seem to work just fine, but then again I haven't ridden a fg with a more expensive chain, so I really don't know any better...

I've always used the K710 but recently upgraded to the K710 SL.

I like it a lot better, it seems to be much quieter than the standard K710.
