Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hi, I dont have a fixed gear (yet) but the LBS dusted off a couple that had been there for a long time and I took them out. They acted like why would you want one of those, but go ahead anyhow. I figured out how to stop, and I got a feeling ridding them that is hard to describe that I cant get over. I rode those two bikes around the shopping center for over an hour! They were two different brands of the cheaper ones for around 600 each as full bikes; both were too big. Since,I found a small shop that believes in fixed gear and can get frames, and build from there. They suggested Soma Rush. What do you guys think? I would assume it handels faster than a road bike, I plan on playing in downtown traffic with it, city back streets, and to get that feeling of the test rides. Is it my imagination or is there a special sort of feel about ridding one of these bikes? addiction maybe? Seems like the black ones are very cool!

Go for the Soma, you'll be glad that you got a good quality frame. After I got mine, it was like I got a new set of legs.
