Cool new shirt

Printed this for myself and a few good dudes I work with today (I run a printshop):

No, I'm not selling them and attempting to profit off Mr. Brown. Just figured I'd share.

Like I said, I'm not selling them so it's not like I'm dealing with copyright infringement or anything (just because I run a printshop doesn't mean I'm a 'bootlegger'). There are a lot of lame parodies of Obey stuff. I figured I'd make a good one. Besides, Sheldon Brown is (was) a rolling encyclopedia of bike knowledge. If anything, it's a wearable tribute.

Great shirt. Would have liked it better without the lame OBEY logo, but the photo of Sheldon came out really nice

Thanks. I pretty much hate Obey stuff too. I just figured if anyone who rides a bike is going to actually "obey" someone, who other than Sheldon?

I think the Obey logo works well (I hate obey stuff also) and I think it's pretty clear that you're using it ironically. Good work.

RIDE in place of OBEY would be interesting.

if you asked Shepard Fairey he may grant rights (if he owns the rights?) . Shepard seems like a cool guy with this stuff, but is having some trouble with the Obama thing.

you could sell to promote a non-profit bicycle advocacy - and/or to keeping Sheldon's site up and running.

anyway - your shirt just got me thinkin' ... 'would be nice anyway. i'd buy one.

EDIT: now that i've had a few to think of the //fair use// thing. with three PBR's and a really crappy day behind me... i dunno. IANAL.

OK, good. Sometimes having to over-explain something like that risks taking the fun out of it!

"RIDE" would be cool. I'm actually going to Harris to pick up a few things for my wife's bike this weekend (it's about a half-hour away)...maybe I'll wear mine when I go and see what kind of reaction I get.

I wouldn't be cool with selling it unless I talk to the guys at Harris and see if there's some way to donate the profits toward something Shelon Brown related.

That sounds like a particularly good idea. If you'll be there anyway, see what they think. But really, while I think the Obey thing is a little off, the Ride parody would be awesome.

Cool shirt!
When you decide to market and sell put me down for one. Cashing in on the late Mr. Brown I wouldn’t think of it that way, it’s more like carrying on his message (read his obituary if you don’t know what it was.) His picture to a lot of us is a reminder on how freaking helpful he still is to this day.

It’s also ok to be paid for ideas and work. People who ***** about it are just jealous they didn’t think of it first.
