Small dent on lip of Deep V, repairable?

Long story short, rode over pothole and it was abrupt and deep enough (combine with my speed, probably 18-20 mph) to dent the lip of both my deep v's. its the size of a dime and the lip is dented slightly inward and i wanted to know if theres anyway to fix it? can it bet bent back? will i have trouble truing in the future?

there is one spot around the nipple where the metal has been stressed slightly. is this a red flag for the entire wheels structure?

this is the case where i wished my deep v wasnt so... rigid and i wouldve rather had my wheel out-of-true than dented. ugh!

Towel, adjustable wrench, and 5 minutes will fix it.

HTFU, fix it, and ride like hell.

I put a similar dent in a box-section rim, and repaired it the way Fugazi Dave suggested- an adjustable/crescent wrench (with flat jaws!) and a piece of cloth. Put the jaws over the lip of the rim with the cloth in-between (to prevent nicks, scratches, etc), support the rim, and gently bend the middle of the dent with the wrench.

its good man , dont worry, you will get over it. your wheel is still fine. ride it

You can definitely bend it back with an adjustable wrench (adjustables are best because their jaws are completely smooth).

Keep an eye on that stressed spot near your nipple, because catastrophic rim failure can definitely happen. If it goes for a while with no changes, you can relax a bit but it's always good to have a quick look at your wheels when you're cleaning them/ etc, whatever their history might be. I have had a front wheel fail under me and though I wasn't badly hurt it still sucked.

Any rim can dent. It's not because it was too stiff, it's because you hit something hard and your tire pressure was a bit too low. With your tires inflated to proper pressure they will not pass shocks on to the rim as directly.

Good picture.

Also, use the biggest, widest wrench you can get, to do it.

whee-o! thanks for the tip guys im not so worried anymore unless i mess it up bending it back haha. i ride with a slightly lower pressure to even out the bumps bc b123s are hella stiff but yeah i should def put full pressure now i that i've learned my lesson. thanks again and great visual reference

I have a similar dent. Considering the rim is made of aluminum, I don't believe it is a good idea to bend it back. I haven't bent mine back and I've had zero trouble with pumping to 120psi and riding all the harsh city streets.

It's only a bad idea to bend it repeatably in the same spot and bending past the normal angle of the rim. ;)
