Yet another Barenuckle question!
 

I've searched the threads up and down and still couldn't find the answer, so please forgive me if I've missed it :)

Does anyone know (or can you please measure) the center-to-top seat tube length on a 54 Barenuckle? I would greatly appreciate that :thumb:

The bareknuckle is measured c-c. Add 3cm to get the c-t dimension. My 58cm c-c BK is 61cm c-t. The 54cm c-c should be a 57cm c-t.

BTW, If you are trying to size a bareknuckle for yourself, this dimension is not telling you anything substantive.

i am trying to size a godzilla, but having a difficult time doing so! i currently ride a 56 felt tk3 (its perfectly square, 56 seat tube c-t and 56 top tubs c-c), and i'm thinking that the 54 is the right size for me. although i'm getting the contrary info from reading all the posts on here http://www.advrider.com/forums/image...es/puzzled.gif i'm 5'8" but have an extra long inseam of 31.5 inches! i've had to switch out my stem on the felt to an 80mm and now the bikes fits me perfectly. the 54 has a 55 top tube which will be fine, the only thing is the seat tube, and if that is 57, 1cm shouldn't make a big difference between it and my felt. the last thing is the standover, and it looks like the BK is a tall bike, but i dont care about that....

what do you think?

Have you written Bare Knuckle? c-t = center to top. So, mihlbach gave you that. My suggestion would be a 2 phase approach:

1. Write Bare Knuckle with your core question. It is unlikely they care about any of your personal details. Just ask about the bike. I don't know the price point you are looking at but if it's not a big dollar item it is again unlikely they will engage in a back and forth dialog. Ask a straight forward question and get a straight forward answer.

2. Go to your lbs and get professionally sized. This is not an expensive proposition. Take your pedals and shoes.

The combination of those 2 pieces of information should answer your questions. Hard data is really the only way to go. Anything else is just a guess. There's no magic. Data will reveal all. When you are getting sized, place all your attention on comfort. So much about being on a bike is personal preference. The tarantula cannot account for handling of course; which would come into play with things like stem length. But, that wasn't part of your criteria, anyway.

If you are satisfied with the 56cm Felt, then I would go with the BK or Godzilla frame that has the closest tt length. I'm 6'1". My 58 BK fits me about the same as my other size frames which all have a 57-57.5cm tt length (and I use 105-110mm stems). Indeed, the BK frames seem to be a bit taller compared to many other frames, but thats not really relevant to fit, because you end up just running less seatpost and fewer stem spacers. Once you get the saddle and bar height correct, the only "fit" difference that matters to any degree is TT length.

Also consider the possibility that while you are used to how your Felt fits, it may not be the best fit for you. In the end, either size will probably work. You are just going to have to adjust stem length and spacers to fine tune the fit. Consider stem length. Personally, I would want to use a stem that was closer to 100 mm. If I were your height, I would seriously consider the smaller frame and a longer stem.

SOrry for the wishy washy answer...its not easy to give the best answer without more data.

I'm 5'8" as well and ride a 54cm bareknuckle. I have a shorter inseam of like 29 or 30 and it comes up right to my crotch. 54cm should fit you pretty well

EDIT: I ride with a 100mm stem if that helps

you shouldn't sizing track bikes w/ stand-over, or any bike really, but track bikes have a bottom bracket that is about an inch higher than your standard road bike, which throws people off.

if you felt has a 56 top tube, and you can only ride it with a short 80mm stem, you'd probably be better off with a 54 or 55 top tube so you can get a longer stem on there.

I have a 54 Bareknuckle so I can confirm that the seattube c-t is 57cm. I'm 5'11 w/ a 32.5 inseam. I've currently got a 70mm stem on my BK. I think I might be just as comfortable on the 52cm frame with a little bit longer stem. What I'm trying to get at is that if you are 5'8" I would seriously discourage getting anything larger than the 52cm.
