So do you actually want to talk about your single speed bike or what?
Yes, let's see some pictures of your bike. |
This is stupid. its like asking if my kettle has black paint, is it considered black? Well duh.
Why do people spend so much time with technicalities. Is it Track or is it Tarck? Is it "traditional" track geometry or is it a hybrid? who cares. just go out and ride. |
I'm gonna build me the ultimate high-end fixed-gear beach cruiser. You'll see!

is the forum limited to the high dollar bikes
Another 40% of the bikes here are BD bikes also costing less than $500. Maybe 18% of the bikes here are more expensive name-brand FG/SS's. (still usually MSRP's under $1000) The remaining 2% are really awesome vintage/custom [big $$$] track bikes. Compare this to the Road, Mountain, Recumbent, Tandem, Cyclocross, Touring, or even Utility forums where almost all the bikes ridden are $1,000+ (and in some cases well over the $2,000+ mark) FG/SS forum probably has the cheapest "average" bike cost except maybe the Hybrid or Family/Recreation forums. Although my hybrid bike (Raleigh Detour Deluxe) cost more than twice what my FG (Motobecane Messenger) did. |

I ride a bike that has wheels, but you elitist *******s would probably judge me for that. I don't care, I like having wheels on my bike.
On topic, yeah, his beach cruiser is a single speed. But for purposes of discussion, it does not belong here. No one is going to have any advice or kinds words to say about a heavy, coaster braked-equipped, slow, fat-tired cheapo bike. That's not meant to be condescending either. But what advice could anyone here possibly give about that bike? |
HR, I have built up custom bikes costing as much as $8k, yet I'd still steal at least two of yours, given the chance.

RULES?
We don't need no stinking rules. The truth is it doesn't matter. We are going to make fun of you and your bike regardless. If you are too sensitive or the kind of person who takes it personally, you'll probably be happier not posting here. If you can take it in the spirit it was intended and maybe issue a little needle of your own now and then, this forum can be a lot of fun. |

Yes, it is a single speed.
No, it doesn't belong here. Not because of the dollar amount of bikes posters ride, but because you have to wade through 100 yards of inflated egos, keyboard comics, straight up d-bags, and other BS before you can get a question answered. If you have any questions or want to discuss mehcanical/customization/etc type of stuff you are probably better off on a site like ratrodbikes.com. I have seen everything there from balloon tire fixies to single speed cruisers with drop bars on frames with aggressive geometry. |
I think the problem here is that the OP asked a question, which maybe seemed far enough, but it was a bit rhetorical since he knows his one speed cruiser is a single speed bike.
Because of that, people mistook it for trying to be argumentative and just another person with a problem with the hipsters and their fixies. OP, if you had an actual technical question, it would have been answered. If you wanted to tell people about your bike, then there is a thread for that at the top. (Show off your SS/FG bikes). The last time there was someone here with a beach cruiser, he said all bike with thin tires are gay and was so angry that his $100 Wallmart Trek brand criuser had gotten a rusty chain and seat post and therefore all bikes made by Trek were crap. He argued a lot, insulted a lot of people and got banned. So the track record for Beach Cruiser owners here isn't so good. But still we welcome you. If you want to be nice. |
there was that guy who had that electra or whatever beach cruiser to commute in san diego and wanted some tips on gearing since he had a hill to climb. some people recommended he get a kilo or some lighter bike which was not the point of the thread, but nobody just excluded him for having a cruiser.
and the OP reads like "hey you all with thousand dollar bikes what say you to my kmart beach cruiser? why aren't there more beach cruisers why do you all spend so much on bikes why blah blah blah" if you didn't mean to come off as a "you're all hipsters" attitude i appologize, but you came off as a "f you all, you're all hipsters" attitude. |
