Langster 2010, for fixed or!?

Hi All!

I have ordered one of the new Specialized Langster Steel, at my LBS, wanting a track frame as opposed to converting a road bike. But looking at pictures I am beginning to get the sweats, as the bottom bracket looks rather low. Does anyone know if this bike is not build for fixed wheel riding, is it not a track bike?

I read that it was supposably NJS approved ad the only mass produced bike fabricated outside of japan... Seeing as NJS i track I thought that was the stamp of approval - but am I wrong.

There is not much I can do about it as I had to pay in advance, but I just want to know if I am to be scraping my pedals on every corner in the future?

Thanks
Have a nice day

I think you're going to be okay.

All I know is the bike is not NJS approved, not that it matters much anyway.

71.5mm is low for a track bike but don't worry about it, it'll be fine. Lots of people ride fixed with lower bbs than that. You may strike a pedal once or twice but it's something that everyone just learns to deal with and to avoid, much like toe overlap. I must have pedal struck with my road conversion once, maybe twice, over 20 000ish km of riding.

This is intended to be a fixed gear road bike, though you could ride it on the track if you wanted. Honestly, whether it's a "track" or "road" bike is not something you should really stress about. It looks quite nice and isnt that what it's supposed to be all about?
