Frame Rusting Inside!!
Pulled out my seatpost and discovered some rust inside my frame! What should I do to remove it? Should I use that frame saver spray stuff?

framesave it
drill hole on bottom of bb shell reinstall seatpost with plenty of grease |
Wont a crapload of dirt end up in yr BB?
|
not really.
but it will serve as an easy exit for moisture. all my steel frames are drilled or came with bb shell cut outs (the reason, I believe, cut outs exist in the first place) and they're fine. if you're concerned about dirt, just put a piece of electrical tape over the small hole and remove it after riding in the rain to help drain the water out. drilling isnt necessary, but it does seem to help. |

We've found the definitive rust-proofing thread. But say for instance you (I) have a Kilo. I'm willing to take my chances without any framesaver. If I'm still riding this bike when it starts to rust through from the inside. I owe myself at least a new frame-set. Maybe some of you plan on riding your bikes for ever. But really?
I'm sure I'd feel different riding NJS. twelsch |
I would've sworn NJS frames for the price you pay for 'em are rust - proof. |
Buy Frame Saver and coat the frame. Use steel wool to get the current rust out. Easy & Cheap.
