The Look seems quite a bit flashier. I like that rear wheel contour/cutout in the seat tube on the super pista; I've never seen something like that before.

Nice yamaguchi, just wished it wasn't a reverse conversion. Still nice, I guess.

As for pista concepts, I liked the white one, 2006 i believe.

Everybody's doggin the Super Pista, but I personally think it's a really cool frame.

I'm pretty sure it's not a conversion. Observe all the cable stops. It would be a pretty big chore to braze those on and re-paint. I think it might be a time trial frame, but I'm not sure. Anyone know for sure?

Also, I like the Look a lot. I'm surprised nobody's decried the sloping top tube yet.

The font they used on the frame looks like it came straight out of ms paint or something. That is what kills it for me...

and that guchi is def a tt frame. it has a hanger on the rear drop out and has cable stops.

The Yamaguchi was a custom one off, nothing converted about it. It was made with track ends and a full complement of braze-ons. And it is unbelievable. http://velospace.org/node/1753

The Super Pista is also pretty good looking. I don't know why so many people dis it, I guess because it's not a Concept.

At a professional level, no.

This is the theory I postulated the last time this thread was made: We all know that this fixie subculture is no longer accepting admissions (as explained by BSNYC). However, there really isn't a doorman when one comes upon this club to check IDs, there is no one to say, "You got here to late, and therefor you aren't welcome." Instead, we chose who we deride by the things they say. For example, if someone here makes a post about the best tires for skidding, or what frame to get for sick barspinz, then we therefor can assume that this person entered the club after the open admissions policy was removed; hence derision. Being a quick lot, however, most of these noobs learn to talk trash about anything that isn't from "the old school" (which was 1-2 years prior to their joining our fixie club). So when someone says, "I don't like that frame…looks icky stickers no like" then we can interpret that as, "I am appealing for your acceptance by pretending that I was around 'back in the day' and these noobs are ruining everything today; please let me be part of your fixie club." That's my theory.

But all philosophical theories aside, do you think that the Superpista looks at all comparable in appearance to the Look Pista or the Pista Concept?
We're talking about your own ability to decide weather something looks acceptable. And it's ok if you think the Superpista looks good. Everyone has their own opinion towards anything, and all opinions are neither wrong or right.
This is simply a thread to compare two newly-released frames in the market. I am not trying to change your view on anything. My last post was only intended as a humorous take on how I see the Superpista, and not how you should see it. I'm just sharing my thoughts here, not "deriding" to show that I'm "old school".

That thing is ugly to me, and my opinion is not affected in any way by the fixie scene's sociological trends. It is simply unappealing to me visually. If I were to say that the new Porsche turbo is hideous while the 1990s ones were hot, I wouldn't be trying to appeal to die hard porsche fans, I would just be expressing my visual preferences. Same thing here.

I still stand firm on the white pista concept.

black 2004 concept was the best.

the lines on the headtube are too sharp.
the top of the seat tube ends too abruptly.
And the graphics are pretty bad. Why on the top of the down tube???
Overall the shape just isn't as appealing.

Since you asked for my opinion, I'll give it. I think the Super Pista looks better than the look. The SP's tubing looks more balanced than the Look with the ginormous down tube and skinny seat tube, while the seat tube cutout on the SP is hot. I also dig the aero seat tube. The logos on the SP are understated, and I think kind of classic/classy; while the Look's logos are loud and brash. But like you said, it's just an opinion, neither right nor wrong. Do I think it looks better than the Concept? I'm going to have to say that I'd want to see one built up first before I say but I like the frame a lot. I'm not as concerned with logos when I compare the two, as that's not the only criteria for me liking a frame/bike…although it seems that's the main thing people complain about when talking about this frame.

No one is arguing that people don't have their own free will to make their own decisions. But in a scene that is as mercurial as this, hating on something has a tendency to gain steam when one or two other people get on it. It's hard to tell when someone is making a decision of their own volition, or if they're just following the masses. The amount of hate this bike has engendered tells me it's most like the latter. If this bike was marketed as the next Concept, I'm pretty sure the opinions on this forum would flip, same colors/font's and all.

Iv'e seen you hate on the MASH crew enough to know this is not true. Even if the "fixie scene's sociological trends" haven't positively affected your perspective, it's affected you nonetheless.

you're right that I have an opinion on many different things related to fixie society, but my aesthetic preferences have nothing to do with that. As educated, intelligent people, we are able to separate ourselves (at least mostly) from our own biases and look at something as objectively as possible.
