How would I go about getting full not ****ty fenders on a Surly Steamroller? As far as I can tell everything fits, but the problem is there are no eyelets for the fenders to attach to unless you get the garbage clip on fenders that I don't want.

Also unrelated note but I can't ride here in the winder of NYC without gloves. Do I need like really high end $50-$75 gloves that stop wind? Or are cheap ass $15-20 gloves good enough? If my hands are going to be cold either way I rather spend $20... but I can't tell if it is a case of getting what I pay for or not. Thanks

I guess those clips are fine...don't have much of an opinion really.For gloves,i've been using some cheap ski gloves for the last couple winters and they have been working fine for me.

Yea most should have them. Although them knowing what you are talking about is a bigger issue. I carried a pic in my pocket just in case when I went to Ace. No1 knew what I was talking about over the phone

Yes. Sometimes you will find them in the plumbing department and called "tubing clamps" They are very useful for mounting things without scratching the paint because they either have a soft coating or rubber inserts.

"Fenders and rack were indeed mounted using 4 "p-nuts." I used 1/2" at the dropouts. 5mm x 20mm long hex-head bolts/washers/nuts (you'll need 4 sets) secure the rack and fender stay mounts to the p-nuts. The flanges of the p-nuts go to the outside so that they line up with the rack mounting points. A needle nose vise grip keeps it together while threading the nuts on. The rubber on the P-nuts keeps them solidly in place. Same on front. See the pic."

Looks like a nice, clean job. BTW - not having a set-bolt on your tug nut defeats the purpose of having a tug nut. The bolt allows you to set the wheel perfect once and then when you pull the wheel out for whatever reason, returning it to that perfect position is a no-fiddle affair. I know those little paddles on the Surly tugs are painful affairs. But, as it stands, your tug is serving no purpose. You still have to doink with setting your wheel up when you slide it back in. Maybe drop a fresh bolt in the tug with an Allen head. I know I've thought about it. Just haven't gotten around to it.

That's not akkando's Tuggnut, and there is a 'set-bolt' on it. You can see it in the picture.

Ahh, you are correct. I re-read the post. Akkando posted the pic so I responded to him. You see the set bolt in the picture. I don't.
