Bullhorns? Deep Vs?
well my legs are incredibly numb and my knees a little achy after a day of intense non stop riding on my windsor (48t chainring, 16t rear cog).
My next definitey investment is bullhorns.
Anyone know who makes good components?
Whose best? Bontrager? Nitto? etc?
Where can I find them fairly low priced but with fair quality? I like the drops that have right now, but I just think id like bullhorns.

I'm amused at how someone could push 81 gear inches ALL DAY LONG (I've tried 79 gear inches and died after the first minute...), but nonetheless bullhorns aren't a bad choice for bars. A lot of my friends ride with Nittos, they seem fairly popular though I've yet to try one. I'm tempted to suggest going to your LBS on your free time, but my LBS likes to overprice their junk..
What is fairly low priced to you? "Low priced" to Bill Gates can mean $10,000. If you plan on ordering the horns online...

Do you plan on climbing a lot, or just going on the velodrome?
The title says Deep Vs, but I see nothing about Deep Vs, haha...

Most bullhorns will be of similar quality (6061-T6 aluminum alloy tubing), so buy the style you like. Nitto is more or less the name brand here, but you've got plenty of options https://www.google.com/products?q=bul...1&oq=bullhorns . You may find a 17t cog a little easier to ride if your gearing feels too steep.

Not to venture off topic though. Bullhorns are nice bars, but I don't think you need to spend tons of money on nittos or anything like that. Just pick up some eight inch bars off ebay for $25

Just be patient and you'll get some cheap on eBay. If you search completed items, you can get an idea of just how cheap they can sell for.

Are you going to study on your ride home from school? It takes a lot of eating and a lot of sleeping to sustain 250mi / week. Good luck Champ.

Pick up an old set of drops off Craigslist for 5-10 bucks and chop/flop them. If you dig them, you can always upgrade to a lighter/better set.

just because it's Trek's in-house component brand doesn't make it crap. bontrager has a lot of good products, especially in their race x lite and race xxx lite stuff. shimano 105 and ultegra come standard on many shop bikes, but it would be foolish to categorize them as what you "upgrade from"

the only nice stuff bontrager "makes" is actually just rebranded. I.e. the Aeolus wheels (which are sick, no doubt, but not designed by Bontrager).
I have a pair of Profile Design Air Wing bullhorns that work pretty well...Syntace are good too, I think.

I've ridden Syntace bars and Profile Design Stoker 26 bars, and I prefer the Stokers.
Google Profile Design Stoker, and consider narrower better than wider for numerous reasons (getting through doors, if nothing else).
Go to the following site and study and play with the applet there:
https://software.bareknucklebrigade.c...it.applet.html
I think of 47 X 17 (72 gear inches) as good for a young athletic rider.
Some folks ride even lower at 63 gear inches, and I presently ride at 61 gear inches (and, yes, I can spin).
Gear down and learn to spin.
As for deep V's, they can get you in trouble in a crosswind.
Try Velocity Aeroheads:

Light, strong and aerodynamic enough for the street.

I have the third one from the bottom (the 400) on my vigorelli and in my opinion they're worth every penny I paid; you can't really beat the way they were anatomically designed
You might be able to find a good deal on craigslist or ebay.

bullhorns, like drops, should be as wide as your shoulders. i tried some 36 drops once and it was not comfortable. much prefer my 42s.
though my syntaces are like 41, but the stratos 200 definitely get my vote.

I have a set in 26x42, and have to agree. The only reason I replaced them was because I wanted to use a 31.8 stem and cross levers.
