You're right, English threaded (but not French or Italian) bottom bracket right side cups ARE reverse threaded.

But for most of the folks on this forum, remembering righty tighty - lefty loosey is a good starting point.

why do hacksaw people always get so defensive whenever a pipe cutter is suggested. A pipe cutter is designed for cutting through tubes evenly. Hacksaws are great all purpose tools for cutting, but when there is something that makes a straight cut nearly foolproof, why not go for it?
tl;dr, When I suggest a pipe cutter, it is not a personal attack, just a simple suggestion.

I dunno, I've seen that before and even seen claims that pipe cutters ruin the integrity of the bar, etc.

I'd not suggest one go buy a pipecutter if one is already in possession of a hacksaw and rat's tail file, however. I'd even suggest the hacksaw to folks that have neither tool, as hacksaws have more uses for the average person than pipecutters.

Even if one has no files, careful sanding of the cut edges with sandpaper or even the sidewalk can clean things up quite well.

When making a suggestion to those in possession of hacksaws and pipecutters, I just say your choice, unless you're putting in barends, then go with the hacksaw, for sure.
