Carbon Wheel Sex

This is what we need on our fixies :D

While we are wishing, why not wish for the original Mavic Io instead of the knockoff.
This is what $3,000 can buy for your bike: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3078/...133f3162b6.jpg I mean, $3,000 EACH wheel. Not total. Edit: I'm sure you know about the Io. The riders on this forum are deathly afraid of carbon fiber anyway. They think it will explode in sunlight. |

Carbon fiber is made from powdered vampires. And not the sparkly kind either.

I think the "knockoff" is sexier, especially the decals, haha. Yeah, I know the IO, had one then sold it to finance my trip to Natz 2 years ago. Really not a good outdoor wheel, I got blown all over the place cuz I'm only 135lbs, but you'd have no trouble. Wheel had a mind of its own, didn't want to turn, but it was crazy fast in a straight line. I don't think you could touch it today for $3000, more like $4000, but the Comete is only about $2500. Supposedly, there's only one guy in France who makes the IO, so production is pretty limited.
I had a chance to buy an IO but I passed on it. Even priced as used I couldn't afford it. I rolled a Blackwell 100mm front and a borrowed Zipp 900 disc last season. This year I've got a set of 808s. We'll see how those work out. The Blackwell 100 was tough to handle on windy days. At Colorado Springs I was almost knocked clean over coming around turn 4...and I weigh over 230! |

speaking of exploding wheels (somewhat related):
EEK! |

None of the stuff on their site has prices. That trispoke is kinda sexy. How do you order from them?
|
Well, I lifted the photo from this auction >>> http://cgi.ebay.com/RTS-Carbon-5-Spo...item1e5a0fdff6
I'm not sure where they are sold or who imports them. Try this >>>> http://greathung.diytrade.com/sdp/87...ontact_Us.html |

Pro Bike Gear is a sub-division of Shimano. Basically Shimano for people who don't like the Shimano brand. Very high end stuff. http://pro-bikegear.com/publish/cont...e-PR69001.html |
