lol at new fixed gear posters

i look at this forum around once a week, and every time there is a new thread about the best skidding method, or what color deep vs will complete their whip. will these trolls ever die?:(

cnnrmccloskey 01-28-10 03:08 AM

Guess not

tFUnK 01-28-10 04:09 AM

You keep using this word. I do not think you know what it means.

If no such *****ing thread appears in the top 10 threads, myself or some other person who is equally as dumb, creates a new one. Instead of starting the exact same thread over and over, why can't we just think of new topics to post about? Will idiot forum noobs like me never die?:(

I fixed your post for you. As you read it, ponder this..

Forums like these are specifically designed to disseminate information from one enthusiast to another. This information, like water that necessarily flows from higher ground to lower, propagates downhill, i.e., from the more informed to the lesser.

While this may be a minor irritant to someone like yourself who already knows it all, it is of inestimable value to the neophyte. To them, these forums, (and the enthusiasts who populate them that will take their time to answer their questions), are an invaluable wealth of knowledge that allows them to make independent, intelligent decisions based on experience that they themselves do not yet possess.

You, on the other hand, would have their questions banned and turn this invaluable medium into a fricking inbred circle jerk where a bunch of hipster/tricksters sat around masturbating each other over how much they already know. Ain't you special??!!

OP - starting a thread grumbling about other threads is being more of a "troll" than the people you're complaining about.

Ooh, big cat thread!

Lately I feel like this forum is helpful when needed, and hilarious when called for.

a guy i ride with just gave me a poster with this picture on it. It is now officially the coolest thing in my apartment haha.

He said that they used to smoke before long climbs because they thought it helped to open their lungs up. Also, are they riding FG bikes? Did people ride FG bikes in the Tour in the 20s?

Sixty Fiver 01-30-10 02:56 AM

Derailer equipped bikes were not allowed in the TdF until 1937 as even though the technology existed, Henri Desgrange opposed their use.

Early racers also had to ride the same bike from start to finish and complete their own repairs as receiving assistance would result in a penalty to the rider. Christophe was probably the most famous for breaking bicycles and for receiving assistance during a repair where a boy worked the bellows as he repaired a broken fork.

The early races were also longer and the routes were brutal...

Eugene Christophe
