Name this Aerospoke
Need helping IDing this wheel please:
*pretty sure the H+SON is just a sticker, and please ignore the masi. *please notice the absense of a braking surface lip (present in both machined & "nonmachined" aerospokes) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3627/...c6ccbb74_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2351/...476514_o_d.jpg |
a green one.
wow...brown, red, black, white, pink, silver, and green... |
Is it not just an aerospoke painted green with some stickers slapped on there?
|
but look closer, it has no lip.
|
I cant imagine filling the lip in with bondo would be too hard. That or molding some extra resin on the wheel then finishing it up with some paint.
|
It's an aerospoke without a lip.

It's hard to ignore such a hideous set up.
|
That's for sure. Well I know H+Son makes rims without braking surfaces.. and that sticker is pretty nice.. I dunno.
The bike in the back looks nice. |

it's obviously an older version (or brand new) of an aerospoke where maybe they didn't have lips, or it's a completely different wheel. |
That bike rules.
|
Looks like the braking surface has been sleeping with the chainring behind the sp0k's back.

you my not friend are an idiot. yes, I would for sure get an aerospoke, remove all color, fill the lip with bondo or resin, then repaint it.

well aerospoke uses velocity rims in the construction of the wheel. maybe someone provided a h+son rim and had them custom make an aerospoke.....thoughts?

Aerospokes that are painted give you the option to paint the braking surface; simple raw Aerospokes come with a braking surface no matter what. You can see a tiny little chip on the edge right to the left of the Vittoria logo in the first pic that reveals some of the Velocity's silver brake surface. I think it's just been painted with a few coats to blend in the seam at the composite.
|
it's an Alex R500, 10 spoke radial laced w/ large amount of bondo, drywall, chicken wire & paper mache wrapped around each pair of spokes to give it lateral stiffness and perpendicular rigidity while making it horizontally compliant and vertically smooth. Sanded, shaped & handpainted by the boys at Montano Velo with paint pens in a limited edition of 6. Better get on the stick if you want to pick one up OP,
