A Soma Rush frame should be at my house in about a month, just paid for it today! :) It's going to be along month. I've been a typical roadie forever (but I ain't no snob). I don't know any fixed gear ridders, never even met one. My ride partners and the club all think I'm wacked, comments like "I knew you had a death wish!" " Me? no way I'm not suicidal!" "You really ARE nuts aren't ya?" " Track bike, but, you can't coast", "You've GOT to be kidding!" etc. So looks like I'm alone, oh well. What do you guys wear when out on a ride? Roadie clothes? or just shorts and standard shirt? You all seem to be a more relaxed down to earth bunch and thought maybe you dress different. And yeah I do drink my coffee black. I will post a picture when she's all in one piece.

are you serious? What clothes do 'we' wear? C'mon. What, are you 13 years old?
Sorry man, just get on your bike and ride it. |
clothes.
[although in Florence a couple of years ago they had a naked critical mass. the tagline was: "no car. no clothes."] fsnl sparky |
Wear what you wear whenever you ride your existing bike. Just because it's fixed doesn't mean you have to change your whole wardrobe and lifestyle for it. Bottom line is that it's a bicycle. What are you most comfortable wearing on a bicycle? Wear that and stop thinking about it.
Seriously, it shouldn't require thought. |
just wear what you normally wear when you ride. its just the bike thats different. you dont change outfits depending on what car you are driving, do you?
|
Tuxedo. Jock strap on head. Fruit leather. Anything argyle. Really, the possibilities are limitless. Unless you ask permission.
|
Nothing but a smile, baby!
|
I see people already made that hackneyed naked quip.
|
Clean clothes. Wait even that doesn't matter.
If you wear pants, though, be sure to roll them up. You need to be a lot more careful about getting stuff stuck in your chain. |
Wear your mini u-lock in your belt, or use your chain as a belt.
|
Now that I've given it more though, I would suggest a sequin g-string and a bow tie. Really, a classic outfit.
|
I hear Tron outfits are all the rage now!
|
Work shorts, Sidi's and a wool Castelli jersey is what I'm wearing to match my Rush today ;)

A haunted desperate grin, some sweat

I wear "bike shorts" for longer rides. But whatever I'm wearing for everything else. The fact that your riding should be enough of a fashion statement-JJ

I feel bad. My post at work might have almost contained useful information.... Probably the wrong thread to post it in.

2) As far as attire, I just turn my jersey and shorts inside out when fixin. |
I strongly urge you to wear a Slayer shirt.
|
OK OK OK, I GUESS IT WAS A STUPID QUESTION........Holy F+@k sorry! :o It's just that to ride fixed seemed so different to me that I thought other things might be different too. I will never ask that again. honest. But I do like 46X17's idea bout the Slayer shirt.

Fixie riders look at me funny when I wear bike clothes. I just do what makes sense: I wear street clothes when I am riding on the street just for transportation, but when I go on long fitness rides I wear lycra padded shorts and a jersey (love the pockets) cuz they are more comfortable.
Vegan, there is no way to win on this board. You are either a hopeless poseur or an elitist snob. No middle ground. |
