lots of rain and a concor saddle?
i live in portland, we have no shortage of rain here. im sometimes absent minded and dont wrap a bag around my saddle when locking up in the rain. just wondering if anyone has experience with the selle san marco concor and rain. ive read some reviews online but nothing has been said about it being waterproof/resistant. last thing i want to do is but this thing and leave it in the box.

It's leather, right? Just get some Nikwax on it. You could also use some thicker varieties of saran wrap.

its suede, i know thats leather but it has texture to it. i dont have any experience with leather saddle let alone suede ones. can you wax suede?

I'm not sure about that. I'd take it into a camping/outdoor shop and ask them what to do. Chances are they know lots about waterproofing.

Suede? Not Lorica or "microfeel" of whatever their synthetic marketing buzzword of the day is? Synthetics generally fare quite well in rain. I hope your saddle is black.

How hard is remembering to cover it with a plastic bag?

I have a Turbo on one of my bikes and a concor on the other, both suede. After a while they'll smooth out and the texture will eventually become like smooth leather. I rode an alleycat with my Turbo, and the rain softened the leather too much and now there are clear areas of wear. I personally think the wear looks cool, but you will shorten the life of the saddle if you're always running it in the rain.
I've since learned to swap my Selle Italia Flite in for the wet weather days. |
