Why do you think Thomson Components are so good?

How does Thompson compare to Dura-Ace/Campy/etc lines that are in the same range?

I bought a Thomson seatpost on eBay, primarily because it was the right size and I got it cheap. It is lighter than the Campy one and the Kalloy one but not as light as the carbon Zeus one I have. The saddle was easily clamped to it, it fit the bike, and it was easy on my wallet. what's not to like?

Had I been able to score that Campy Chorus Aero seatpost for the same price, I would've gotten it instead.

How do the seatposts compare? Pretty equally. They hold the saddle up, they fit the frame, they haven't broken and caused grievous bodily harm.

yeah basically what everyone else said... light, strong, and relatively unbreakable, as well as appealing to the eyes.

PRO TIP: if you don't want to pay premium dollar, search "thompson" in ebay. adding that incorrect "p" will cut the price $30 to $40. pretty well known but still unbelievably effective. i have 2 elite seatposts, an x2 stem, an x4 stem, and an old elite road stem, all purchased that way for $40 and under... the cheapest being brand new for $19.
