Uh, Will, you got your backslash in the wrong spot... Maybe you spent to much time away...

And I know nothing about ISIS cranks/bb/whatever :)

Well, you are wrong, it's a fact that ISIS BB's wear out faster than square taper of the same quality. Degrees and theory are great, but real world use is the proof in the pudding. The idea behind ISIS was to address stiffness issues at the BB spindle interface. It sacrificed bearing life to accomplish this in the parameters of current BB sizes.

And guess what, FSA has acknowledged the problems and proposed another standard to address it. Details here. Those are the facts.

Well there you go, it will be nice when a company releases one.
I can't quite wrap my mind around a threadless BB, guess I would have to see it in person

Edit:: heres better pictures of it http://www.sanobike.com/megatech.htm

is the stiffness or lack of it in the BB really a big problem for many riders?
I use a campy crank and what bothers me more is how much the crank flexes.
If I look down on it while standing still and push with my foot I can see it flex.

I agree. Not only does the crank flex, but so does my frame - and I'm talking about fairly stiff MTB stuff. A short spindled BB that only has a few mm sticking out of each side of the frame is the last area I am worried about flexing. Square taper suites me just fine. Maybe it works better for the clydesdales.
