Questions about Kilo TT with Lugs
How much extra is it worth to you to have a lugged frame for SS/FG?
Would you prefer lugs lined? Or prefer to be able to do lug lining yourself?
How much extra would you pay for lugs to be chromed?

1) I like ALL my steel frames to be lugged regardless. I won't buy tig or fillet brazed lugless, so it's a moot point.
2) No. I don't like lined lugs.
3) $100, but ONLY if the fork crown, fork dropouts and track ends are also chromed.

On your site the kilo TT is 349 for a complete. I would want full chrome, no paint. I wouldn't have a problem paying around 500 for this.

Basically yes, except either no chrome on the fork legs, seat & chain stays, or at least no more than 1/3rd chromed. The chrome should be accents on a mainly painted frame. Also, painted dropouts rapidly look terrible after a few wheel installations & removals.
Oh, in addition, if at all possible supply the forks w/o those stupid CPSC dropout safety tabs. I always file them off, and if they have been chromed, the chrome will be ruined by filing. I realize that the CPSC requires them on complete bikes intended for road use, but I don't think they are a requirement for bare framesets or track bikes.

TRACK bikes under CPSC must have sew-ups: wonder how many bike qualify for that?
I am unsure if framesets require tabs under CPSC; that will take some research

i'd prefer to have a lugged frame/fork with no chrome or lining just for the sake of keeping costs down. that said, if you could do chrome stays and fork like on the kilo deluxe and still keep in the $300-$350 range for the frameset, i'd be whipping out my credit card instantly. also can you just make it threaded? i know you want to give people the option of running threadless but it seems like most people are interested in this bike as a classic-style track bike with threaded fork, quill stem, etc. there are already plenty of bikes in your lineup that can be built up with more modern components. why not keep this one a classic?
edit: can we also lose the fender eyes and rack mounts? maybe keep one set of water bottle mounts but that's it. there are lots of other bikes in your lineup that are setup with practicality in mind. let's keep this one nice and clean looking. getting rid of the rear brake hole would be cool too but i guess there may be people out there who want to run this as a ss.

LOL on that. I've been racing track for 35 years, and while that may have been true 20+ years ago, today more people are racing on the track with clinchers than tubulars. When I bought my 2006 Bianchi Pista Concept, it came with tubular wheels/tires and no provision for brakes (undrilled fork), however, the fork dropouts still had the CPSC tabs. I filed them off and then painted the filed part black to match the fork color. It just shows how out-of-touch the CPSC is regarding true safety.

if you made a frame with chromed lugs (so like the white one but with chrome lugs) AND then the rest like the black one (with the half chrome fork and rear part of the frame), i'd buy one even if it was in the $300 range.

The pictures posted by the OP look pretty beautiful imo, id like to see some nice straight colors like cream, light blue etc. Itd be best if you priced it 300 or less.

that frame is about $349 delivered
when you add chrome; it adds a little
when you add chrome lugs; it adds a lot

i could care less about chrome. Offer some good paint jobs, with sparkles, etc.
Mike, I know you want to partially thread to keep the market base wide, but for what you're offering, you're selling a classic. No one goes threadless on a classic. You don't see any keirin riders going threadless. That's the trend, that's where your money is. Help us help you.
the dropout ends are sexy, btw.

I am starting to think this is the way to go on the track bikes
On the lugged road bikes I am going to use chrome lugs and aheadset
but I think I will go threaded on the track

Funny thing is: Full Chrome is only about $399 [if full paint is $349]
I am going to do some of as much assortment as I can: but the chrome lugs that are so expensive maybe only on Road Bikes with Ultegra or Red c groups to start
it will be very interesting to see how many cyclists are out there that are ready to pay the premium to get lugs

I always appreciated all your efforts, designs, etc., thank you. If you do make a chrome lugged frame only with a threaded chrome tipped fork and chrome drop outs....even in the $500 range, i'd like to buy one.

I think you'd do a lot better if you could bring the price down to $300.
And definately just do the threaded fork for the lugged track bike.
Nice work as always BD.

if it's $500 with chromed lugs, I think you'll have hard time moving them. I like Tejano's idea of just chromed fork crown, fork dropouts, and track ends. Maybe one chainstay leg.

I think the price needs to be under about $450 for it to sell well. The BD frames now seem to have the price going for them for the most part.
Anyway, I would be really interested in a chromed and lugged frameset. Even more so a fully chromed one. I would LOVE one of those.
But one with a chromed chainstay, fork, and lugs is good too.
Also lug lining seems like a good idea too. If you can keep that an open option, I think you should.
By the way, what happened with the idea of a copper-plated frame?
