Hell Yes! Once a "study" gets mentioned, might as well take it to PnR!

Back on track, I was helmetless yesterday and today. I'm gonna hit the trails tomorrow, so gonna break out the styrofoam!
It hasn't been raining the last few days, so no ball cap either!

Umm no, what I got from this thread was the op asking what people wore if anything, he didn't propose we start talking about helmet vs no helmet. The thread actually went pretty well for at least 3 pages.

You can look to many other countries that have put in place MUCH more socialized insurance and healthcare schemes than what's being proposed in the US, and none of what you describe has happened in those countries.

They must not have had a strong enough healthcare-hating contingent there.

I just bought this guy on BikeIsland for $76.95.. MSRP is $110 and apparently that is really low for the quality of this helmet.

I've had a helmet for a while and only wore it a few times, but I've started to wear it more often. Don't want someone to hit me and crack my dome open.

I keep the light on my bike, but I do have a helmet-mounted mirror. Yeah, I'm that much of a dork. It really is nice for being able to quickly look almost anywhere behind you without losing awareness of what's going on ahead.

Much like 'scrod' I have dreads also, and it didnt dawn on me that I had a large head until I tried to find a helmet. I sorta would prefer a all-sport/skate style helmet but I just cant find any that fit...close but not close enough. Giro Flack, nutcase, Bern and because there are no stores about me that sell them they are all web purchases so I've been throwing this money away trying to find one that will fit.
I did finally find a specialized helmet that juuust fit but in the traditional biking style which I suppose I have to settle for.
Scrod...if you do find the perfect helmet, dont forget your du-rag! Makes you look like a pirate, controls the locks under the helmet (and a lifesaver from the velcro and stray mane...pulls it all back) and just a simple shake of the mane after the ride is all you need do to set em right afterward.
I dont ride the distances or are confronted with the tasks of hauling much ever I just have a small pouch with essential tools and repair kit and throw them i a small back pack along with my mini-pump, headlight and a gatoraide. Riding tends to be recreational so no need for lock just yet.

I used to wear a skate style helmet year round 'till i broke down and got a road helmet 2 years ago and the ventilation is soo much nicer. Now it's bike helmet from spring to fall and skate style with taped up holes in the winter.
