Best luck ever!!!

So I was in the market for a fixed gear bike with a budget around $500, Kilo TT right? Anyway, I was going to Texas for my roommate's graduation, and like any cycling addict I had to check out every LBS on the way. We got to San Angelo, TX and googled bike shops and up pops Concho Bike and Lawn Equipment. I go in and ask about fixed gear bikes (they listed Surly and Globe on their website). He said he didn't have any in house, but had a Roll 2 XL that he had just purchased and wasn't riding. He asked if I was interested, and I said "Of course!" Went back today, he brought it from home, it's in perfect shape. The only thing that was even dirty was the white tires. Said all he wanted was $525 because that is what he paid. Can you believe that. A mint Roll 2, professionally assembled, tuned, and trued for $525. All those BD fans out there, this is why you check shops!! None of my friends understand my excitement, but I knew you guys would.

good job buying the bike, hope it fits and you find enjoyment in it

I've had much better luck... but getting a bike at close to dealer cost is always good.

Didn't know what came in the headbadge until I got back to the hotel, thought it was interesting.

I tried to break this post up a little, didn't want anyone to be overwhelmed.

i don't understand why u assume we don't check shops. Either way, congratz!

btw, foot retention?

cooley_daniel 03-19-10 01:47 PM

I have the clips and straps that came with it, but I'm not quite coordinated enough yet. I'm going to avoid hills in the short term.

What's funnier is you would be exactly right. They have a pretty nice bike shop with pretty good selection, but walk far enough back and you're shopping for lawn mowers. It's a weird concept, but it seems to work for the area.

Oooo not bad at all.

I would've haggled with him. But whatever, cool bike.
