Can you identify this wheel?

I'm new to the forums and I recently traded for bike with a random craigslister. You might be wondering why in the world would I trade for a bike with a component I don't know about? Well I got quite the deal by trading a psp go for a mercier kilo with various upgraded components. The only thing I couldn't identify was the rear wheel and the previous owner just said it was a deep v, but I'm not sure which kind. It doesn't look like a velocity or a weinmann. Can you help identify it? I'm curious as to what kind of hub and rim it has, the spokes are probably not as important to find out. Thanks!

PS - Not sure as to whether I posted this in the right place or not.

Velocity deep V? or a knock off?

WoundedKnee 03-20-10 11:25 PM

I think Velocity Vs taper to the braking surface while Weinmann DP18s do not, the braking surface is just raised a few millimeters. Can't tell in the photo.

Considering 32 spoke it isnt a deep-v

Syrk 03-20-10 11:52 PM

I've been thinking it is maybe a vuelta deep v? The braking surface has the little groove that looks like the one on the vuelta super deep v. I couldn't find a vuelta at 30mm with a picture that I can look at to compare with my rim.

It looks like a weinmann to me; the fourth picture is what did it. Schrader drilled?

Seems like a weinmann dp18 to me laced to a generic hub....

Syrk 03-21-10 12:19 AM

I have a weinmann dp18 front machined and it doesnt have the little groove like the one in the rear, is it maybe because its not machined? Also, it seems that the rear is a bit thicker than my weinmann? Maybe I should double check.

It's definitely not a Deep V, b/c of what WoundedKnee posted. Most likely a Weinmann DP18 with some cheapo hub.
